Under the influence...

Description

And we all know how easily influenced I am. XD UH, nothing is really more significant than the others. Size and order represent nothing, it was just based on what was easiest ti fit where...

ANYWAY.

1. Old cartoons, Looney Tunes, and Marvin the Martian were all a big influence on me, and surprisingly how I learned to draw hands...

2. Tim Burton and Henry Selick are the bomb, both working together and apart. I've been a fan of both of them for a long time now. :D

3. Punk and mohawks! I adore them, and this is easily seen in the majority of things I draw.

4. Music, rock operas, and especially Pink Floyd's The Wall really get my creative juices flowing. Different music effects what and who I draw heavily. MCR = McCrea, Greenday = Milt, The Offspring = Bagman, etc. The movies adapted from such things are greatly influential as well, since our visions aren't the same and it's fun to see a new take on how I saw it.

5. Quentin Tarantino and pretty much all his movies. Although I've only recently become a fan, I'd have to say he's my favorite director ever now. Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, and Inglourious Basterds are my faves of his. The thing I love most are the jumpy timeline plots. Keeps you on your toes!

6. Ed, Edd, N Eddy were a big impact on my childhood for whatever reason. I think it was the style. It was different and crinkly and like nothing I had seen from clean Disney Movies. I really liked that. I also had a childhood crush on Double D. XD

7. Gorillaz and Jamie Hewlett's style in general makes me smile. Admittedly I'm only a mild fan of Gorillaz and Tank Girl and such, but the style never ceases to make my brain pop with joy.

8. Spy vs. Spy was one of those things from my childhood that only recently came back to me, but looking back, it inspired me a lot, especially the way Porphias drew bodies and hands. He also introduced me to things like body hair and more manly features. XD And noses. <3

9. Scary Godmother and Jill Thompson's style within itself amazes me. It's another one I found very different and wonderful. While the cartoon was generally mediocre, the comics are delightful and cute.

10. Torture is a big thing with me, BUT you probably knew that by now. XD And while there is a kink to it, I've always found torture devices and the mentality behind it really fascinating. Who came up with these things? How did the thought of let's do this to a person even occur? There's something mentally delightful about it. XD

11. Jhonen Vasquez is, admittedly, a big influence that I kinda regret. While I thoroughly enjoy his works, especially JTHM and Invader Zim, my style is often mistaken for copying his when I'd like it to stand on it's own.

12. Steampunk has only really recently shown in my work, but I've always kinda liked the concept of it. And, if you kinda carry the thought over of a mix of timelines and such, I REALLY like that. I like mixing time periods and inventions and such far too much. Gears, goggles, top hats, pocket watches, and whatever else have always been awesome anyway, regardless of what they were associated with. XD

13. Moral Orel is another recent addition, but a very heavy one. This is one of the few shows that has sincerely touched me within my COLD EVIL HEART. XD Seriously, it can make me crack up, and yet cry literal and real tears. It's so underrated, it really is.

14. KND is only a small influence, but the villains in it were great. Toiletnator, Knightbrace, the Common Cold...simple child-hood dislikes transformed into villains. I always though that was cool.

15. Last is southern Gothic. The south is a scary place. We have things like voo-doo and weird plants, funny talkin' and the like. We're also, like, ten times more haunted than anywhere else. southern Gothic stories show this. They're so realistic in the expectations, but has grotesque features. It's great.

Then, not listed, are all you guys. Really, your input is super influential, and while I don't normally show it, what you say means a lot to me! ^^ Ugh...I'm getting sappy now. I need to do something horrible to make up for it.

UH...do you know why gorillas have large nostrils?

...

...because they have big fingers. :B

THERE, rep saved!
